How to Spot a Gay Bar (Hint: I’m in it)

So with Lee in New York for 2 weeks, I’m left on my own out here to fend for myself. Unwilling to spend a Friday night at home with the cats, I headed out after work to find a place to watch the debates. My first option, a movie theater within a bar, was too packed, so I went around the corner to the Red Cap Garage, an innocuous looking bar open to the street with people all watching the debate on a tube over the bar. I pulled up a stool and watched the 2nd half of the debate, and enjoyed a bourbon, a beer, and an amazing burger for a total of like 8 bucks. While I enjoyed the happy hour prices, I only really looked around once, and I noticed a few women, and also that the bartender was a little fruity, but I didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t until after the debate ended, I came out from the bathroom, ready to leave, and I found this little gift waiting for me. Suddenly the big black bar promoter, “Cory” was next to me, asking if I wanted him to change the channel to Girls Gone Wild, and where I worked. “Don’t worry, 95% of my friends are straight, and I bat both ways,” he says. Needless to say, any misconceptions were gone during our short conversation when he told me that “this one was even, but next debate, Obama’s gonna have McCain bent over, with no lube”. So thanks, Cory, and Keith, for being so friendly, and reminding me that I’m not allowed to go out solo ever again. And for anyone heading to Red Cap, try the burger.
